Grow Green Initiative – Tree Plantation Programme

Introduction

The Grow Green Initiative is an environmental conservation programme implemented by CONARE with the support of Hitachi and India Is Us. The initiative aims to increase green cover, restore biodiversity, and create environmental awareness through large-scale tree plantation activities.

In addition to plantation drives, the programme encourages environmental education by establishing Botany Gardens in schools and engaging students, communities, and local institutions in protecting natural resources.

Program Details

The Grow Green Initiative -Tree Plantation Program, held on 17th February 2026 at Zilla Parishad High School, Sahebnagar, was a collaborative effort supported by Hitachi and organized by CONARE in association with India is Us. The program aimed to foster environmental awareness, promote biodiversity, and instil ecological responsibility among students and the local community. A Botany Garden was established within the school premises, designed as a living classroom with themed plantation zones such as medicinal plants, native trees, pollinator-friendly species, climate-resilient greenery, utility plants, and succulents. Each zone carried ecological and educational significance, from teaching traditional medicine through Tulsi and Aloe Vera to showcasing the role of pollinator plants like Sunflower and Hibiscus in supporting biodiversity. The initiative highlighted how integrating diverse plant species can strengthen ecosystems while inspiring students to become active custodians of nature.
